First Pet Sematary Trailer Convinces Us That Dead Is Better

Sometime, dead is better. That doesn't mean that Stephen King's disturbing Pet Sematary should stay dead. Not after seeing this chilling trailer for the 2019 horror movie. New footage just dropped. Give it a look!

Based on the bizarre and brutal novel by acclaimed horror storyteller Stephen King, Pet Sematary dabbles in the macabre, and the pain of loss that might be able to be scrubbed away. But at what cost?

The most effective scare in this new Pet Sematary trailer comes from something ordinary. A truck, barreling down the road. This is the crux of the story, when a new family (led by Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz) moves to a quiet, and large, Maine farmhouse that happens to be situated too close to a busy road. But they have children! And a cat.

Trouble brews when the road claims its first victim. The family pet. Clarke's character is told of a solution, but it's supernatural (of course, this is Stephen King). There's a burial ground. And when you bury things there, they come back. But something isn't right with what's returned. So, is it worth it?

Pet Sematary started its life as a Stephen King novel in 1983. Even by Kings standards, it's a mean and nasty little story, with a parent being pushed to the brink as he grapples with the loss of a child... and the potential god-like power of resurrecting the dead. Naturally, when your advertising slogan is, "Sometimes dead is better," you begin to realize that the notion of a pet cemetery is ill-advised. There are much darker places that this story can go, so strap in.

More people might know Pet Sematary from the popular (and creepy) 1989 movie. Fred Gwynne was memorable as the old townie who teaches Louis Creed (Dale Midkiff) about the power of the pet cemetery. And Miko Hughes was disturbing as the zombie Gage.

The new Pet Sematary arrives in what is a Golden Age of rebirthed Stephen King. The author's creations have inspired a critically acclaimed Hulu show in Castle Rock. The Dark Tower adaptation may have faltered, but IT Chapter Two is powering along, and should captivate King fans in September 2019. Crazy Rich Asians Constance Wu Has A Reason For Not Wanting To Join The Star Wars Franchise

The Star Wars universe isn't going anywhere, with Episode IX, two original television shows from the upcoming streaming service Disney+, Rian Johnson's planned new trilogy and the film series from Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss all on the way. However, you can rule out Crazy Rich Asians lead Constance Wu among the long line of actors eager to sign themselves up for a role for a chance to wield a lightsaber and rock space buns. Here's what Wu said:

I want to take roles that challenge me in different ways every year. I'm ready for something new, so thinking about that makes me feel like it's golden shackles.

It looks like the Force isn't with Constance Wu! It's not that the actress doesn't love the Star Wars franchise, she just doesn't want to tied to a long contract movie deal. She was asked by Rogue One's Jyn Erso herself during an episode of Variety's Actors on Actors starring Wu and Felicity Jones.

Before Star Wars fans write off Constance Wu, she did give some understandable reasons why she wouldn't be instantly attracted to working on a Star Wars film. She has been doing a lot of the same as Jessica Huang on ABC's comedy series Fresh Off the Boat for five seasons and is ready to regularly challenge herself with a mixture of roles.

Felicity Jones' Star Wars experience was an exception to the norm of the franchise, as Rogue One was a standalone film that pretty much hits the self-destruct button for potential sequels as the film closes. In the Variety interview, Jones expressed to Constance Wu about how she would love to play the part again and have the stability Wu has found on Fresh Off the Boat.

Constance Wu then back-tracked a bit, thinking back to her massive press junket for this summer's massive hit Crazy Rich Asians. Wu loved coming back to a familiar set of Fresh Off the Boat and appreciates the comfort of it.

She likely already has a franchise on her hands, since Crazy Rich Asians was the highest-grossing rom-com since 2009's The Proposal, just received two Golden Globe nominations (including a nod for Constance Wu for Best Actress in a Comedy) and has two sequels in the works for the characters based on novels by Kevin Kwan.

Crazy Rich Asians has been confirmed for a sequel, but it looks like Wu just hasn't gotten the official call yet, and director Jon M. Chu has In the Heights lined up to work on in 2019 first.

As far as Star Wars is concerned, pretty much anything is possible considering the franchises plans to go backwards and forwards in the timeline in their film and television show endeavors. Constance Wu could certainly find a short-lived role if she wanted to, and I think she would be a great fit for the franchise.

While Felicity Jones' chances of returning to Rogue One seem initially dim, her costar Diego Luna, who played Cassian Andor is getting a Disney+ series of his own, which precedes the Star Wars prequel even further. Maybe there's hope for Jyn Erso too?

Is Rambo 5 Turning Sylvester Stallone Into A Cowboy?

When you think of John Rambo, Sylvester Stallone's iconic and badass Vietnam War vet, what image comes to mind? Chances are it's a longhaired Rambo, shirtless and diced to the socks, rocking a bandana and wielding a bow and arrow, a big knife or an even bigger gun. An image that you probably don't think of when you think of Rambo is that of a cowboy, and yet that is exactly what Sylvester Stallone' looks like as Rambo 5 is set to begin filming. Take a look below to see John Rambo as you've never seen him before.

If you didn't know that Sylvester Stallone was filming Rambo 5, you'd have to think that this was a look from an entirely different movie, like a neo-Western in the vein of No Country for Old Men or Hell or High Water. Yet this image from Sylvester Stallone's Instagram apparently shows the actor as he may look when he reprises his role as John Rambo in Rambo 5. Apparently gone is the long hair, the tank top and the bandana, and in their place is a cowboy, complete with riding chaps and the requisite cowboy hat. Simply put, this does not look like Rambo.

This outfit isn't just for show either. It looks like Sylvester Stallone will actually be doing some horseback riding as Rambo for the new film. Check out Sylvester Stallone's post from the set of the film below:

While these images may not be an official confirmation of Rambo turning into a cowboy, Sylvester Stallone is really teasing the fans with the concept. And if you remember the ending to the last film in the series, 2008's Rambo, this new look actually tracks. That film ended with John Rambo, at long last, returning to the United States and making his way to Arizona to visit his father. In that ending scene we see that the Rambo homestead is a ranch with horses on it. So if the new film follows that narrative, it makes sense that with no more wars to fight, Rambo probably settled down in that rural home and helped man the ranch. Like Sylvester Stallone himself, Rambo has gotten older and the character's look has changed with age and with his occupation. He's no longer a guerrilla war fighter; he's just an older guy living a simple life. Or trying his best.

Wars always find Rambo, and there are always people in need of saving. Rambo 5 will find the vet taking on a Mexican cartel. So he will probably be minding his own business on the Arizona ranch when violence spills over the border, and he finds himself once again having to take matters into his own hands. We've seen Rambo fight all over the world, so this new look and new setting should give this film a different look and feel. The character and the franchise has the opportunity to evolve, and if Rambo 5 has the gritty modern Western shown in these images, it will be breaking new ground.

The Best Tweets Deadpool Dropped During The Super Bowl

This year's Super Bowl broadcast included more than a few trailers for some highly-anticipated blockbusters - including Solo: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and The Avengers: Infinity War - but one film sadly absent from the event was Deadpool 2. The Merc With The Mouth's sequel has not yet released a full official trailer, and Fox decided that the big game was not the place to do it. Still, the lovable character was still at least in action during the event, specifically live Tweeting the whole thing.

The official Deadpool Movie Twitter account was active throughout all of Superbowl LII, and used various during the game to make some jokes in the spirit of the anti-hero's sense of humor. The messages don't exactly read like Ryan Reynolds is sitting at they keyboard (plus the studio probably would have made a bigger deal of it), but there are still some laughs to be had:

Self-effacing jokes about his own horrible looks are a big part of Deadpool's playbook, but he also isn't above leaving an awful taste in your mouth:

If you're like me then you're bummed that Deadpool 2 didn't do a lot more with the Super Bowl... but it just means that we all need to exercise some more patience. The first real trailer for the blockbuster will get here soon enough, ready to showcase some real footage of the feature before its theatrical release on May 18th. It's without question one of our staff's most anticipated movies of the year, and as soon as we get to see more from the film we will be sure to share it with all of you!
